Record entries to the 90+ club in Jaipur this year

JAIPUR: It was celebration time for several schools in the city where an average of 40% students have scored 90% & above in CBSE Class XII exams, the results of which were declared on Monday. The rise in number of such students has surprised many. St Xavier's School has 70 students against a total of 150 who made it into the elite club of 90% scorers.

"Students are going for the highest degree of specialization in studies due to consistent pressure of getting into good colleges especially in humanities and commerce," said CK Punnose, vice-principal, St Xavier's School.

Another school, Step By Step, has over 100 students in 90% & above category. Sonal Nagori, a Class XII-Commerce student scored an aggregate of 96%.

"Overall environment is very conducive for academics. Apart from classroom, we use internet also to supplement to our studies," she said.

Two students from Step by Step School have got 100% marks in Political Science, a highly theoretical paper, which surprised everyone. Mitali Kumawat and Vartika Sinha, the two top scorers, aspire to become civil servants.

"Though it was unexpected I was very clear in all concepts of political science. I answered to the point in the exams which must have left no scope for examiners to even deduct a single mark," said Kumawat.

Cambridge Court High School has 46 students out of 120 students in the list, which is highest so far. Lata Rawat, principal of the school, explains the reason for high percentage among Science students. "Since the Class XII marks have weightage in the JEE (Advanced), students eyeing IITs and are focusing on Class XII along with IIT preparations," said Rawat.

Other schools which have a significant number of students in the club of 90% & above are Delhi Public School, Rukmani Birla High School, Neerja Modi School to name a few. The percentage of such students are getting higher with each passing year, resulting in high cut-offs in degree colleges.
